FG Boosts Foreign-Embassy Security After Libya-US Attack


Nigeria boosted security at foreign diplomatic buildings after a fatal assault on the U.S. Consulate in Libya and protests in Egypt over an American movie that was derogatory of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad.U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three other officials were killed in an attack on the American consulate that started on Sept. 11 in Benghazi, Libya, while protesters in Cairo stormed the U.S. embassy there. Full story...

Nigeria: South East Govs Set Up Joint Security Committee

Enugu — Governors of the South-East states, yesterday, set up a joint security committee headed by the General Officer Commanding 82 Division of Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major-General Olayinka Oshinowo, to recommend ways of tackling the rising problem of insecurity in the zone.The committee, which membership was drawn from various security agencies, including the Army, Police and Air Force, is expected to submit its report to the Forum of South-East Governors within two weeks. Full story...

Bakare Vows To Fight On, Reveals Encounter With SSS



Lagos clergyman, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has vowed to continue his advocacy for good governance in the country, just as he revealed his encounter with men of the Lagos State Command of the State Security Service (SSS). Speaking to newsmen in Lagos, yesterday, Bakare in a 15-page text titled, Sequel to Last Sunday’s Message: Time to Change Government Peacefully and Make Society Better, said that he would not heed the admonition to ‘tone down his sermons.’ Full story...
