Blast Kills Five in Nigerian Church

A SUICIDE bomber in a car detonated his explosives on Sunday at a Catholic church holding mass in northern Nigeria, killing five and wounding nearly 100 worshippers, officials said.The attack triggered reprisals during which two more people were killed, reports said.The bomber drove a jeep right inside the packed St Rita’s church, in the Malali area of Kaduna, a volatile ethnically and religiously mixed city, in the morning.A spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (Nema) in Kaduna said five people had been confirmed killed, while 98 people were receiving treatment for wounds at two local hospitals. Full story...

Bomb Destroys Church Building in Bauchi


Another bomb blast occurred in two different parts within Bauchi metropolis on Wednesday night damaging part of the building of Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN), in Zango area and another building at Tudun Hausawa without any casualty recorded.The Bauchi state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lewi Pokti, who confirmed the incident, said the explosion at COCIN and Zango damaged the entire pulpit and parts of the church building which will require an entire reconstruction.Full story...

20 Feared Dead as Multiple Explosions Rock Mubi

Gunfire and Bomb Blasts Rock Northeast Nigerian Town

Another Bomb Factory Uncovered in Kano

KANO State police command has uncovered another bomb factory at Hawan-Hotoro, on the outskirts of Kano, just as the command arrested two suspects in connection with the factory.Disclosing this in Kano, on Thursday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, said the command equally impounded three vehicles used by the suspects.He said various bomb manufacturing materials were also intercepted during the operation, adding that the building, which had been cordoned off by mobile policemen, would be demolished. Full story...

JTF Uncovers Bomb Factories in Adamawa as Mubi Gets 24-hours Curfew


The military Joint Task Force in Adamawa State said it has uncovered bomb factories in Mubi area of the state just as members of the dreaded sect, Boko Haram are reportedly making efforts to annex the town as one of their operational base in the north east region of the country due to its closeness to Borno state.
This latest discovery, which was confirmed by the Commander of the 23rd Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General John Nwaoga is coming barely 24 hours after the JTF raided an enclave of suspected gunmen, in which one suspected sect member was killed while 156 others were arrested and several arms and ammunition confiscated including improvised explosive devices.

Telecoms Mast Stations Detroyed

According to reports, Islamic group Boko Haram has destroyed over 25 mast stations belonging to mobile telecommunication operators in the Northern part of Nigeria. Aside from the attacks, four MTN Nigeria staff were reportedly killed by the group in Maiduguri while trying to bomb the company's base station.MTN is South Africa's pan-African mobile network operator with 22 operations across Africa, but Nigeria boasts the largest number of MTN Group's subscribers exceeding more than 62 million. Police Defuse Bomb In Delta

Palpable tension yesterday enveloped workers at the Head of Service Unit, Asaba, Delta State following the discovery of a bomb left in a carton and wrapped in different colours of tread  at the premises.The workers, many of whom wearing long faces  were seen in groups discussing the incident in hushed tone, especially with the current insecurity in the country.The workers were said to have stumbled on the bomb at the entrance of  the Head of Service office and raised the  alarm that attracted security agents who immediately swung into action to defuse it. Full story...

Bomb Explosion Stopped by JTF


The Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO) said on Tuesday that it had intercepted a bomb-laden vehicle in Maiduguri. A statement issued by the JTF spokesman, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, in Maiduguri on Tuesday, said that the arrest took place on Monday  at about 6 p.m.  
``The JTF, based on information obtained from an arrested Boko Haram terrorist and moles in the Boko Haram Camp, intercepted a Toyota Camry 2001 model car  heavily loaded with Improvised Explosive Device.

Two Suspects of the Okene Church Killings Die in Custody


The police in Kogi say that additional eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings of 19 worshippers at Deeper Life Bible Church, Okene, on Aug. 6. 
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Katsina, who disclosed this to newsmen in Lokoja on Tuesday, however, said that two of the suspects had died in custody.
He said that police arrested two of the suspects in a bus on Murtala Mohammad Bridge, Jamata, Lokoja, on their way to the state from one of the neighbouring states.
Katsina said that the arrested persons were suspected to be among the attackers of the church, who were re-grouping after the attack.Full story...

Two Bombers Blow Up Themselves On Their Way To Bomb Site In Kaduna

Two bombers fell victims to their own evil machinations when the bomb they planned to plant in an unknown area of Kaduna state exploded before the drop point. According to some eye witnesses, the duo were on a bike headed towards the Northern part of the state when the bomb went off killing them instantly. A motocyclist who was close to the duo at the time of the explosion was also affected by the bomb as his stomach exploded. He was rushed to the hospital where he died a few hours later. Security officers blocked off the area after the explosion as there was an infestation of bees afterwards.

One Killed As Gunmen Attack Vice President’s House in Zaria

Explosions Hit Northwest Nigeria Police Stations



An Associated Press journalist in Sokoto, the major city of Nigeria's northwest, says he saw smoke rising over the stations after the blast Monday morning. Police and security agents have blocked off roads to the sites. The cause of the blasts was not immediately known. A Sokoto state police spokesman could not be immediately reached for comment.

Gun Battle Leaves 8 Dead in Nigeria’s Kano


A gun battle near a mosque in the northern Nigerian city of Kano and two other shootings left at least eight people dead on Sunday in the latest violence to hit the area, authorities said.
