Revealed: How Land-Grabbing Legislators Schemed Out Abuja Estate Owners!


Street Journal’s findings have revealed that at least one quarter of the land at hitherto occupied by privately owned estates on the Airport Road, Lugbe, Abuja has been allocated to members of the National Assembly. Not less than 500 out of the 3, 000 plots of land have been allocated to Senators and Members of the House of Representatives.Findings however revealed that back in 2004, the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) sold the land to Nigerians who were interested in developing residential estates to ease the problem of accommodation in the Federal Capital. Full story...

Eleme Youths Block East-West Road As Jonathan Visits

 Hundreds of youths from Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, yesterday, barricaded the East-West Road in protest over alleged take-over of their lands by the people of Okrika, the home-town of Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.The youths barricaded the ever-busy road as early as 7.00 am from the Eleme Junction in Port Harcourt to Onne axis of the road at a time when President Goodluck Jonathan was expected to pass through the road on his way to Onne Oil and Gas Free Zone.

Kogi State Claims Ownership of Ibaji Oil Deposit


The people of Kogi state have expressed displeasure over the  recent declaration of the oil rich Ibaji area as a territory under Anambra state .They say they own the stretch of land where oil deposits are believed to have been found  in the area.Some protesters in the community claim that the oil deposits expected to service the oil refinery inaugurated in Anambra by President Goodluck Jonathan belongs to their state.The president had earlier declared Anambra state an oil producing area, a pronouncement that has been flatly rejected by the Kogi state authorities. Full story...

Land Dispute Latest: Army Sues Defence Minister, Ministry, Oganla Family

A new twist has been added to land dispute between the Oganla Olukola family of Ibadan and the Nigerian Army, as the latter has dragged the minister of defence, the ministry and the family to a Federal High Court in Ibadan over a 2005 judgement that confirmed the family as the rightful owners of a parcel of land measuring 8.572 hectares and hitherto used as part of the old shooting range by the army.Full story...
